Creating a community space in the Hall Field

For the past year a working group of local residents has been planning some changes to the Field behind the Village Hall.

The working group put together a survey to ask residents of Compton Martin what changes they would like. Overwhelming requests from the survey were; Benches / seating areas, planting of trees and flowers and a play area for children.

The working group have been very busy putting together plans, getting quotes and securing funding to make these ideas a reality.

This Field plan shows the proposed changes. These changes will happen in stages; the first of which, is happening on Sunday 12th March 2023. We have ordered some trees and hedging whips to plant and would love to see anyone who is interested come along and get involved. We will be planting the trees in the north-west corner and some hedging in the south-west corner. Please come along (with a shovel) if you would like to get involved.

Stage two will be the delivery of benches. The benches were ordered at the end of 2022 and are due for delivery and installation in Spring 2023. We plan further planting of bulbs and wildflowers at the appropriate times of year throughout 2023.

The final stage is to hopefully add a natural children’s play area to the field.
